Review: I replaced a Belkin switch 2 (which stopped working after 2 days and was a complete waste of money) with this unit. Build quality is excellent, the metal case is very strong and durable, with easy to use switching and clear lights and beeps to tell which computer is switched. We now have 2 laptops and a desktop connected and it is truly plug and play with an epson printer connected through the built in swithable 2 port usb hub, it works like a dream and printing is easy from any computer. On the down side: it is more expensive than some swithes, but it is worth every penny. However be aware you don't get any cables to connect the computers and monitor with so buy monitor and USB cables at the same time. it adds more expense but this is a very flexible and at the moment reliable switch UPDATE September 2011 four years on and i still have the starview KVM switch after all this time, when purchased i was impressed with the build quality with this unit , it has had some serious use as we now work from home and run another computer through it and it is still going strong buttons lights and swith all work the only issue after all this time would be on occasion the built in USB hub doesn't switch but that might be the computer it works with as it only happens with one. after it has been well used it is still working i would still give this unit 5 stars excellent product

Review: This is a very expensive piece of garbage. Firstly, it didn't contain cables, which is a kick in the teeth given the price. Secondly, Windows 10 has a really hard time outputting video to this kvm - Startech must do better so it works out the box without requiring a user to go fumbling around with drivers and advanced settings in Device Manager and BIOS. I gave up trying to get it to work on my third Windows 10 box. My second Windows 10 computer would only work sometimes through DisplayPort, sometimes it would work (this took a whole day trying to get up and running) then I'd switch to a different machine, switch back, and it wouldn't get a signal forcing a reboot of the KVM and a hard reset of my Windows machine. Why they don't keep all machines connected to the host while inactive is stupid. Even if you get this up and running without the bug in the machine that loses connection, expect your windows to be resized when you switch back. Thirdly, their different KVM models and their features arr a complete mess. Their older models support standard MST with displayport, but not their newer USB3 models. Their HDMI version supports fewer screen resolutions than VGA. In conclusion, AVOID THIS KVM. You don't receive anything better than a cheap £40 alternative, but at least the cheap ones are reliable. I've sent this back for a refund.
