Review: This replaces a 30 year old similar Hotpoint model which failed with a sagging lower oven door, broken top oven thermostat light and an increasing tendency to trip the power when turning off the grill. But it proudly bore the legend 'Made in Britain' and it was very solid - and very white. Looking for a drop-in replacement because I planned to fit it myself, I was disconcerted to find the power connection on this model was housed in a plastic 'carbuncle' on the back which meant the overall depth was a bit bigger the original and it kept jamming on the cable. The unit wouldn't slide all the way in. Pulling the power cable hard downwards through an opening which I cut in the lower cabinet eventually allowed the unit to be slid into place. It's much less solid then the original - 'Made in Italy'! The instruction manual is poor and functions are randomly described as appearing in the 'three knob' model but are actually found in the 'four knob model' section. So what's not to like? Well, it is described as 'white' and so it is - the top control panel anyway which is a brilliant white. Unfortunately the metal front of the upper and lower ovens is more like a dirty grey/white and doesn't match either the control panel or my kitchen units. It is actually quite an eyesore and my spouse complains bitterly. And compared with its predecessor the knobs are very plasticky, the grids are half the thickness, and it doesn't have the catalytic side linings which meant I never had to clean them. But It cooks well enough, the grill can be turned to LH only and the full grill option also seems to heat the top oven floor (clever idea or a miswiring, the manual doesn't say) - and the door doesn't jam! As they say, 'you get what you pay for'. And I couldn't find another white model with the same dimensions.
