Review: I am a recent Mac convert - although, I'll admit this was not my choice. My old laptop died and I inherited an old 2008 MacBook Pro from a friend. I refurbed the memory and the drive, just to discover that the wifi card was dodgy. I was reluctant to spend more money on an old piece of tech, but after months of unreliable wifi (sometimes it worked, most of the time it would switch off and refuse to turn back on), I did a bit of research, threw caution to the wind, and decided to give this a go. It wasn't as simple as plug and go, but, as someone who knows nothing about Macs, I worked it out. Ignore the CD, it's very out of date. Instead, I plugged the tiny wee USB in, finally got my wifi to stay on long enough to get to the driver website (link is included on the leaflet), found the driver for OS 10.5, and downloaded it. You may have to override your security settings a couple of times because the driver developer is 'unknown.' Once I got past this, it was smooth sailing. So, here I am, minutes later, online and leaving a 5* review for a piece of kit I should have bought 6 months ago. At least I'll be more productive now not having to restart multiple times per hour :)

Review: I never expected this to be the best Wi-Fi dongle out there, and I would've settled for the slower than advertised speeds (on 5GHz it didn't even reach 35Mb/s, let alone the 43Mb/s they say it can. And the 2.4GHz speeds are much worse, pretty much useless at that point), but its just the fact that whenever I'm on online video games it just completely and utterly cuts out like every 2 minutes (on average, I had one time where it cut out after 10 minutes... and that was a MAJOR outlier). The upside, I guess, is that it would almost immediately come back, but not fast enough for me to not get kicked out of the game. The only time I would recommend this product is if you have pretty much no money and desperately need internet, and you don't have the ability to hook it up to ethernet, and you didn't get a Wi-Fi motherboard, and there's pretty much no other option for you. Needless to say, the first opportunity I get I'm going to replace it with something that won't cut me off every 2 minutes. And yes, I installed the drivers and I tried it in USB 3 and USB 2 (its currently in USB 2, found it to be a lot more reliable in those ones than if it was in USB 3). On the upside (the proper upside, not the rubbish upside i mentioned earlier) is it pretty much worked out of the box, and I only installed the drivers because the inbuilt drivers weren't working properly and I got a substantially worse experience without the drivers. Overall, only get it if you absolutely have to. And if its on sale for less than a tenner.
