Review: My Home alarm starter pack arrived and installed in under 15mins. I opted for the starter pack in order to test the system as I was sceptical. However, I have had SOMFY products before and never had any issues. Very quick and easy to install and I performed a number of tests and all gave the desired results. The system detects when your phone is away and reminds you to set the alarm. Which is great as you can set it from anywhere as long as you have internet connection available. It also has very neat features for calendar setting the; "full" or "part alarm" as well as "turning it off". Again tested this and works well. With a neighbours recent break in I love the feature which senses if abnormal activity is going on with a door or window and can either perform a warning alarm or set the full alarm off. That should prevent damage to doors and windows. On the phone you get quick notification through push notifications and a great option to either Call Emergency Services, Silence the alarm or turn off the alarm. Only had it going for 24 hours now, but I strongly recommend if you are going to buy a smart home alarm, go with SOMFY. Experts in home automation. One final thing is I tested the Google Assistant and once again works perfectly, you can even set a routine to arm the alarm automatically when google senses you have left home. I have subsequently ordered additional IntelliTAG's to cover all my external doors. The system is expensive but the most cost effective way to buy and build it is to start with the starter kit and add extras. Had I gone with the Home Alarm - Smart system it would have cost me £329.99 - £349.99 I am only missing 2 x IntelliTAG's and 1 Key fob, these items would cost £105.00 so even if I bought the Key fob I would still save on buying the bundled set, saving of £43 - £63. We now have peace of mind and confidence that we are protected and once my additional TAG's arrive I'll retire my old alarm system that just wasn't up to the job. Topical for the Manufacturers but I give this kit A+++

Review: When the Somfy alarm system works well, it work very well. Too well sometimes. The default sensitivity of the Intellitags is very sensitive and our postman has set the alarm off a few times posting a letter through our front door. The motion sensor is also very sensitive and I’ve had to reduce the sensitivity as we have cats that jump on kitchen work surfaces and have set it off previously. So as a intrusion detection system I’d say it’s very good. The Intellitags work well when setup and the motion sensor is very sensitive. My only gripe, and the reason for not awarding 5 stars, is that the system gets a bit temperamental when you need to make a major change to the setup - say changing the WIFI network it connects to. Not ling after moving house we had to change the WIFI network and I thought this would be straightforward. However, after several failed attempts to get the base unit to connect i was forced to reset the whole system. This meant Re-pairing all the Intellitags, Siren and motion sensor. I’ve had to do this about 4 or 5 times in year. Guaranteed, my situation will be different from most as we’ve been through several WIFi setups. But it is a major annoyance - especially when setting up the Intellitags you have to open and close doors and windows so that the sensors can ‘learn’ the extremities of your entry points. That said, the system works well. The App works well. We’ve since bought a Somfy Camera too which integrates seamlessly. We also have indoor Arlo cameras that I can activate when arming the Somfy system by some fairly simple integration achieved through the IFTTT support. Update after 5+ years of use. I could no longer recommend this system. There are infinitely better solutions in the market. My two biggest issues are fundamental. 1, the Intellitags never calibrate. It takes 40 (yes you heard) attempts to run through the calibration process. This happens quite frequently as the batteries do not last long and the process needs to be carried out every time. 2. The key fobs are abysmal. Two of them have disintegrated and have needed to be replaced. 3. The indoor alarm eats through batteries and is constantly out of power. In all this could have been great. But it turned out to be terrible.
