Review: Its a basic phone, with a good battery life. It isn't all singing or dancing, its a basic phone which can have two SIMS from different phone companies. It is light weight and easy to use, but if you want a smart phone, you need to look elsewhere!

Review: This is a quick review to address the main reason why I bought this phone (and why I'll most likely be returning it). I was tempted to get another standalone MP3 player but as this is sold as a music device and also has the ability to be used as a phone it seemed better value for money, as I can listen to my music and still hear message notifications and make calls all from the same, small, lightweight unit. I have added a 32GB memory card and started filling it and eagerly awaited testing it. Firstly, the music player itself has the a navigation menu with the option of "all songs" or "favourites". no seriously, you fill the SD card with thousands of tunes, which are accessed as one giant list of songs. The left and right buttons on the directional pad move between the folders (effectively skipping down to the next folder), however there is no distinction between folder names and song names in the navigator - so it really is just one giant list of everything. You cannot navigate the raw filesystem level, nor is there the usual Album / Artists / Songs navigation you'd expect to find on the most basic on £13 mp3 players on the market. I can't quite get my head around this. What's more is that if headphones are connected and the volume is turned up to full there's noticeable distortion. I don't mean it's over driving the headphones, I mean the sound is 'clipping' at full volume so needs to be turned down a notch or two for it to sound proper. Having said this, the music through the headphones is still acceptably loud. As for the phone, it's a standard modern Nokia. The user interface is pretty much the same as it ever was. it looks like this 2020 rerelease of the phone is missing the Voice Recorder and Call Recorder from the original too. I've seen a few people asking about this as a google search for 5310 will return the user manual for the original 5310. I have no idea why they feel the need to reuse the model numbers. Fine, remake a classic feature phone but call it 5311 or 5310B or something that makes searching for information about it easier. If you're after a bog standard feature phone and you're not planning to use it as a replacement music player - which would seem a bit odd for a music phone - then this will be fine. It's a bog standard 900/1800 MHz band GSM / DCS phone. The battery life is way longer than that of a smart phone for reasons which should be obvious. I really want to like it. The finish is nice, the keys feel nice, it's the familiar Nokia style operating system and menu. They've done a good job on making it look and feel nice and the price is great - like I say, comparable to a standalone MP3 player. Unfortunately the clipping / distortion on the sound stage and the ridiculous music player lets it down. It can't possibly have been hard to make the Music Player a proper MP3 player style interface for this phone. They've lazily reused the software from other previously rereleased feature phones and marketed it as a music device. I might perceiver with it, i might return it.
