Review: Whatever the technology used, most thermally printed labels whether on paper or tape will eventually fade under the effects of UV light. Indoors, this may be a limited problem but outdoors it could be an issue. For example, I had recently purchased some young garden shrubs that will be planted out next spring when they will be a little more mature. All used thermally printed paper labels stuck to a plastic tag for identification and every one had faded to oblivion within a couple of weeks, and not only in bright sunlight. I did not then have the Rhino labeller and although I have a standard Dymo machine taking D1 tapes, there is no metallic or known UV-safe option for that machine. I had to retrieve an old Dymo embossed tape labeller for which I still have a few tapes and which had been unused for years from the depths of a box room as a temporary, partial solution - the text size is way too large, they can be erratically printed and may also not be UV-safe. The metallic finished polyester tapes from the Rhino range are said to be UV-safe. Available in several widths and suited for most if not all Rhino machines, they are not unduly expensive and will be ideal for this purpose. It is far too early to say just how long these labels will last when used outdoors and exposed long-term to natural UV. As with all Rhino products, it is made clear on their packaging that they are intended for industrial use where their range of colours, sizes and special properties may be of benefit.

Review: Text lasts particularily indoors. Fairly easy to peel backing off as it is split.
