Review: Took around 30 minutes to set up. Wanted an access point to go in my loft with the promise of beaming a consistent wifi signal around our 3 bedroom bungalow. Wanted an AP that I could separate out the 2.4 & 5ghz bands and have them separate which isn’t easy to do on our SkyQ router if we want it to work as intended with the SkyQ TV system. After setup all appears OK, but as soon as I closed the loft hatch door the signal completely died. Considering this is a modern built with paper thin walls and simply plasterboard ceilings, the signal even stood 8 foot below where it was installed in the loft above, the signal was shocking to none existent. Many times I simply couldn’t even connect to it at all and when I did, the full throttle 400mbps signal achievable from our FTTP fibre, I couldn’t reach 30-35mbps on a simply Speedtest. Removed and reluctantly returned. Would seem this access point struggles to penetrate simple house infrastructure walls. Maybe OK when you have good line of sight, but any obstruction causes the signal to die.
