Review: Firstly, let me start by saying that by 2016 technology standards this graphics card will not amongst the best for gaming nor will it do everything a £200 graphics card will. I did a lot of research before buying this card which was to replace a GeForce GT7600 in an aging Sony Vaio Desktop Model VGC-RC204. I had an intermittent fault which would sometimes result in the PC not booting but, since upgrading to Windows 10 it hasn’t failed to boot but, has instead had to restart after experiencing an issue. The PC is running windows 10 (it’s been upgraded along the way from XP Pro) with a Pentium D chip 3.2GHz running at 3200MHz, I had specific requirements which were 1. It needed to be low profile and quite thin as there wasn’t much room where the existing card is. 2. It had to be PCI-E 2.0 or PCI Express or PCI-E x16 – they are all the same thing! 3. It had to be an improvement on the GT7600 as I wasn’t going to fork out £34.98 for something that was worse than I already had. 4. It needed to be a reasonable price as the desktop is nearly 10 years old and I didn’t want to throw lots of money at it. 5. It needed to be quite low power consumption ideally less than 35W as the PSU is 300W and the old GT7600 was rated at 35W so I didn’t want to fry my motherboard. 6. I wanted new rather than take this risk of a second hand card that had a better specification. So I worked backwards from the GeForce website making comparisons on the basic cards for all the above points. I then went to a benchmark site to compare the old and new and what sort of improvement I might see. The GT 7600 had a benchmark score of 165 and the GT 710 scored 647 a vast improvement although the GTX 970 is 8660! Don’t get me wrong this is no GTX970 as it’s a fraction of the price. I benchmarked the desktop before and after the install with the previous card scoring 53 on and the new one scoring 77 from NovaBench telling me that 3D frames per second had increased from 176 to 246. As I don’t use the card for gaming I haven’t noticed any real difference except I now have a more stable PC which doesn’t crash as frequently as it used to. Other reviewers asked why you would buy this card. Well the simple answer is that you might be replacing a graphics card in a 10 year old PC and are restricted by size, power consumption, PCI-E 2.0 or price and therefore your options are much more limited. The card was easy to install for me with limited PC expertise. It comes with Low Profile brackets a quick set up guide and drivers disc. I installed the drivers direct from NVidia before install ensuring I had the right version for Windows 10 32 Bit. The only issue I experienced was that Windows was installing the drivers automatically via the wizard so this had to finish before the NVidia driver software would upload. Although this has HDMI and DVI-D outs I had to use the VGA as the desktop is hooked up to an equally old Sony Bravia 26” TV and the HDMI connection resulted in a worse picture than the VGA. Sadly the TV is only designed to connect to a PC via VGA according to the manual. All in all this had enabled my beloved desktop to carry on its day to day tasks at a reasonable cost so I’m more than happy. I will post an update if I experience any reliability issues.

Review: Update: I originally wanted to give this GPU a 3 star rating because it didn't work at all for most games I tried. I realize that it's my fault though; I shouldn't have expected the bare minimum GPU required to run complex games. I think a 4 star is more appropriate, given that it is a good low end GPU for those who aren't interested in doing anything particularly graphics heavy. I built a new computer a few months ago and purchased this card for some mild gaming. The following are the pros and cons as I see them: Pros: 1) Quiet - I couldn't hear the GPU at all. 2) Compact - It is really small and doesn't take up much space at all. 3) Installation - It is very easy to install, relative to the more massive GPU's. 4) Price - For a low end GPU, the price isn't bad. Cons: 1) Performance - This is the main problem I have with the GPU. While I understand that 1GB isn't much for gaming, it should at least handle less complex games that are a decade old. When I tried playing games with this GPU, my frame rate would often be about 7fps on the lowest possible settings! This would often lead to crashing. Overall this GPU is good if you just need a simple card to run your computer and perhaps watch youtube videos. I would definitely not recommend it to anyone who would like to use it for gaming.
