Review: I am reviewing the USB version of this throttle quadrant, which is functionally the same as the round-plug version that comes with the yoke unit, but capable of operating independently via its own USB connection. The Saitek / Logitec throttle quadrant has been around for years, and it shows. It works well enough at what it does, and is an affordable way of adding throttle, propeller and mixture (TPM) controls to a basic flight simulator setup. It is possible to connect multiple units - I have two - and use them for other functions such as flaps, slats and cowl flaps. This unit has become something of an 'industry standard', and there are plenty of third-party add-on lever knobs available that replicate flap levers, Boeing and Airbus throttle handles and even a Messerschmidt Bf109 throttle unit. For a basic and affordable setup for occasional airliner or General Aviation (GA) flyers, the Logitec quadrant works just fine. If you have upgraded to the superb Honeycomb Alpha yoke, this is a very affordable way of adding functional TPM controls. If you are a fan of combat simulators, this will disappoint. It's not robust enough for constant throttle movements and it won't take the weight of your hand resting on it. It's not a HOTAS device. The included software is adequate for most users, but unnecessary as the unit is recognised by Windows as a generic 3-axis / 6-button Human Input Device without the software. It can be mapped in P3D v4+ and X-Plane without installing any additional software. For advanced users who may want to create unique profiles for different aircraft, and integrate other devices such as FIP panels, third-party software is available and I recommend it. The quality of the unit is mediocre. It looks flimsy, although I've had one of mine for many years and it still works perfectly. The worst aspect is the 'feel' of the levers. There is very little resistance to movement and it is not adjustable. The levers move far too easily compared with a real aircraft, and the weight of the control knobs can cause the lever position to change. The recent release of the Honeycomb Bravo throttle unit will effectively make this quadrant obsolete. However, the Honeycomb unit is vastly more expensive and, at the time of this review, utterly unobtainable. It also doesn't sit flat on a desktop, so it's more suitable for a dedicated flight-sim rig than a casual user. There is still a place for the Saitek / Logitec quadrant, but only because its the only contender in its class, not because it's actually any good.
