Review: My bean to cup was three years old and the flavour had faded. My preference is for a latte type coffee This is my replacement. Very easy to use. Tried the milk frother once. Too messy no spout to pour the milk. I didn’t want to drink the coffee from the supplied ‘cup’ as it is too bulky heavy. I already had the Lavazza frother (jug version). The major advantage of the Desea is that you can switch instantly between several coffees. Morning Rossi, late morning Passionale or Deliciosa, afternoon onwards the Dek decaf. There are at least three others worth trying. It costs more but I find all of these Lavazza coffee pods are , for me, excellent flavoured way better than than the bean to cup (even with top roaster beans). I no longer make mugs of coffee with the two shot bean to cup (300ml) but make smaller coffees in a Bodum glass (200ml brim full). I adjusted the shot size to 40ml for one button and 45ml for a second button. This is a good feature to allow you to adjust the amount to your own taste. I normally then fill the Bodum with frothed milk ( if it doesn’t froth well the semi is too old). If I don’t want as much milk I eject the pod and then add another shot of hot water (this stops the extra hot water ‘burning’ the coffee). I haven’t tried other non Lavazza pods. if I was doing this again I would keep to the separate frother and buy the coffee only Idola version. At the time I bought the Disea on special offer so the price difference was not so great. From my experience it would cost a lot more to better this machine and the pods. I would need a £500+ espresso and a high quality grinder £500-f1000. One of the roasters I used said he hadn’t found a really good grinder for home use.

Review: I've had a wide variety of coffee machines over time, (krups, filter, bean to cup, espresso) However this machine tops them overall. Its incredibly easy to use! Simply add your milk up to the desired line on the mug, put the lid/whisk on, pop your coffee pod in and then simply press the mug button which matches the line you filled tyour milk upto on the mug. It heats and whisks the milk, making it hot and frothy, then brews and adds the coffee! how simple is that?! No mess, really easy to empty and i've used it for about 5 days straight now without feeling the need it needs a deep clean, i've just rinsed the waste container and drip tray out at the end of each day. Its honestly the easiest machine i've ever used. Coffee quality is probs 7/10. I purchased a selection of different lavazza pods and some are nicer than others, but its personal preferance, and depends on which pods you use for how much water/milk etc you use. Its just a learning game and you soon get the knack for it. I'm one for a nice latte and this machine makes coffees just as nice as most coffee shops, perhaps better than some. its cheaper too!
