Review: Paired easily with my xbox series s via wireless dongle. They have a "dolby atmos" option which is the surround sound system now used in cinemas, all you have to do to enable this is download the "dolby atmos" app and pay a one off £16 license fee and these headphones then produce the best surround sound I have ever heard for games and movies that are compatible, 5 star all the way for me

Review: The first thing I noticed on opening the box was: "STOP! DO NOT RETURN YOUR GEAR TO THE STORE. READ THIS FIRST." That suggested that a lot of people had been returning this or other Astro gear, and that I was in for a rough ride. Below the warning there were three links to support resources. I followed one thinking it might lead me to a PDF manual. It did not. It seems as though all Astro's headsets other than the A20 have manuals, but the A20 does not. For £80, from a company affiliated with Logitech, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a manual. Pairing the headset with the transmitter is an art I've yet to master, but I can get it done after a few stabs. I really don't think it should be necessary in the Space Year 2022. The nearest thing to a manual in the box is an IKEA-esque fold-out picture of the headset and transmitter with a close-up of the area around the volume controls and of the light on the transmitter. I think the transmitter light might be different colours depending on whether you've attached it to a PC or a console but I couldn't say what those colours are because the picture is monochrome. There is a link to an A20 setup video on Astro's site. It describes a different unit, with a more complex stand-alone transmitter (not the dongle supplied with this unit) which appears to pair automatically. The product description suggests that it can store EQ profiles using a button on the headset. I've noticed that it makes different numbers of beeps when the button is pressed. Maybe if I press it long enough or hard enough it will store a profile? There's no way of knowing: there's no manual and it's not covered in the video. I do hope I can one day make it store a profile because a feature is that the headset automatically disconnects after a few minutes of no audio, and when I switch it back on it's in the whisper-quiet default profile. I downloaded the "astro command center" software. With the A20 it seems that the only available setting is whether it starts in PC or console mode, and that seems to be hardwired to PC mode. There are options to download software and firmware updates. I'm guessing that there are none of either because nothing appears to happen when I start up with them enabled. With the A20 the command center seems to be pointless. The good news is that the headphones and microphone basically work. There's some sound interference when WiFi is in heavy use, though. An option to change radio channel would be handy (my cheaper work headphones have one). The headband is all plastic so it will inevitably fatigue and snap. I just hope I can get £80 worth of use out of the unit before that happens.
