Review: Purchased this as a starter set for my in laws, simple set up and easy to control from the app. They wanted to be able to turn a few lights on and off when out if required which this set if perfect for. Both over 60 and not overly technical, shows how easy it is to use.

Review: This review outlines problems using Alexa on a 2nd Hue bridge. I have most of my home equipped with Hue products. They are remarkably reliable and easy to set up. ‘Rooms’, where there is activity, kitchens, bathrooms work exceptionally well with sensors, almost instant switch on and, when no motion is detected, off again after a time delay you set. Brilliant. My bridge had run out of space for more items. A second bridge seemed to be the answer. Be aware that this path is likely to lead to frustration and possibly, disappointment. I set up bridge 2 easily enough. Within the Hue App it works perfectly. Set up rooms, accessories and all is well. Try as I may, I couldn’t get Alexa to control more than a single bulb on the 2nd bridge. It would control any single bulb but as soon as I group two bulbs, connected to bridge 2, in Alexa, ‘she’ choose two other random bulbs connected to bridge 1 and controls them! Reading on-line forums led me to believe others have had success but with no confirmation of grouped bulbs working in Alexa. Philips support phone line gave much advice but finally said they could not guarantee a second bridge functions fully with Alexa. They are aware of some issues and will resolve them in time. My conclusion is, if you need a second bridge and want to control single bulbs only then, go ahead. Moving some single bulbs from bridge 1 to bridge 2 may free up space on bridge 1 but I felt this would make my house configuration to complicated should I need to change it in future. I have managed to install more lights on bridge 1 by removing dimmer switches from rooms equipped with sensors. We never used the dimmer switches anyway.
