Review: Easy to use I only have one expresso in the morning, the coffee is nice and hot, I don't need a steamer as I don't like milk drinks,so this machine is perfect for me, I use illy beans which are my favourite. It looks good and is a nice addition to the kitchen,

Review: We bought this machine two months ago to replace a DeLonghi Magnifica. It's main attractions were that it is quieter than some other machines, is of good build quality and that it makes good coffee and all of those have proved true. However...we live in a hard water area and have had to replace the water filter every 3 weeks, which at £12.99 a filter soon becomes very expensive. In addition I've also had to run the cleaning cycle 4 times (£1.10 a tablet), which takes 15 minutes at a time. The last filter needed replacing 2 weeks ago and 4 days after removing it the machine required descaling, a 25 minute operation. UPDATE: 2 days after its latest descaling it needs cleaning! It constantly tells you the drip tray needs emptying, which it does at least twice a day, it tells you it needs cleaning and descaling and the water filter needs replacing, but it doesn't tell you there aren't enough beans in the grinder to make the coffee you have chosen and happily grinds and disposes of what beans are in there but doesn't make a coffee or if there's not enough water makes a quarter of a cup and then tells you the tank needs filling. And it always needs filling. After a week or two you won't dare make a coffee without checking the tank and then refilling it after which you'll almost certainly have to empty the tray, which fills to a level that requires very careful handling as you cross the kitchen to empty it in the sink. Petty stuff, but there are only the two of us and we're still having to empty the tray and fill the tank at least three times a day and are still ending up with wasted coffee or a half full cup on a daily basis. Yes, it makes nice coffee and yes, it's quieter than the DeLonghi, but it's very high maintenance and we're paying about a fiver a week just to keep it functioning. My wife wishes we hadn't bought it and I'm fast coming round to her point of view. Overall, I'd say this machine is great for one person or a couple who don't drink much coffee, but if you drink half a dozen cups a day, unless they're espressos, you're going to find a lot of time is taken up with filling, emptying and cleaning this machine. FURTHER UPDATE 23/05/2022 Well, we've resolved many of the aforementioned problems by always checking and refilling the beans and water when making a coffee unless it's very obvious they don't need it and have reduced the amount of times it needs cleaning, descaling and the water filter replacing by the simple expedient of hardly using it. Now we just make a couple of coffees during the day and a couple in the evening but even so it has started malfunctioning. Now it often switches on, goes through it's cleaning process, and then switches itself off or it makes one cup and then switches off. This might be why it has started to occasionally overfill the drip tray when switching off, usually after we've had our evening coffee, so that we go into the kitchen in the morning to find the countertop flooded and then have the impossible task of carrying the tray, which is full to the brim, across to the sink without spilling more. I think it's fair to say that we hate this machine and wish we'd never bought it.
