Review: TP-Link AC1350 I never write reviews but this product has impressed me on all fronts. Increased speed and lots more stable than the wireless connection to our virgin media hub which was always intermittent over the Wi-Fi. Better coverage through the house. Super easy t install via the app. Great value for money.

Review: I really like this EAP110 product, but there are a few drawbacks that TP don’t tell you about! It arrived today. I downloaded the Omada app on to my tablet, and everything worked as it should first time. Setup took around 10mins. You can create a separate WiFi network, or you can change the SSID and Password to match your existing WiFi network to seamlessly extend it. This was really easy to do. I am using this to extend the WiFi range of my Virgin Super Hub 3. The WiFi coverage has always been appalling. The Hub is located next to the front door. The upstairs back bedrooms get intermittent coverage at a very slow pace. Right by the Hub we can achieve 195Mbs from the WiFi (as we speak), but in the back bedroom I was getting 5Mbs from the Hub on and off! Very frustrating! To combat this, I was using an old Belkin router as a wireless access point via an Ethernet cable, but the security was beginning to become out of date, and the software was suspect at best! So I’m pleased to say that the EAP110 is very promising so far. The old Belkin router was achieving a consistent 30Mbs, so I was expecting great things from the EAP110, however the most I am getting in the bedroom so far is 50Mbs, which is disappointing. I am using the supplied POE adapter, which has a ridiculously short power cable on it. I’ve located this next to the Virgin Hub to inject power in to the existing Cat 5e cable I have running up to the bedrooms. The issue I have is that the POE adapter has a max output of 100Mbs, despite the Virgin Hub outputting up to 1Gb (and I’ve verified the speed I’m getting at the end of the Cat5e cable), so I am never going to see over 100Mbs, despite the Hub delivering typically roughly double this, and therefore it is never going to be possible to achieve the 300Mbs that the EAP110 implies! So to summarise, a very promising start. I’m achieving good stable WiFi in a convenient package (that now thanks to the POE adapter just needs a network cable to power it), however I’m never going to see super fast broadband above 50Mbs with this system. Update: I’ve ordered and installed a TP LINK EAP225 to replace the EAP110. It was so easy to upgrade as I now already have the app etc. As we speak, I’m getting a download speed of 135Mbs in the back bedrooms, so this is the solution I have been searching for! I’m well happy, and it is easily worth the extra £30 over the cost of the EAP110! No drop outs or anything so far!
