Review: Excellent adapter, very pleased with it - works well with my Devolo powerline network at both 5GHz and 2.4GHz; rock solid connection at both frequencies, and a good range too. I bought the Archer version as I was experiencing intermittent dropped connections with myTP-LINK TL-WN822N 300MBPS High Gain Wireless N USB Adapter and I now have a stable, fast connection. The Devolo Powerline adapters that I have do limit the maximum throughput to about 150Mbps, so I'm obviously not making full use of the Archer's potential, but connection reliability is top-notch and the speed is plenty fast enough for me at the moment. And it will easily cope with any future network upgrades that I do, especially as it's compatible with USB 3.0 as well. The only downside of the Archer unit is its size - it does stick out quite a way from the USB port and so could be easily damaged if you knock it (especially when using a laptop). I tend to use the supplied USB extension cable as that gets around the size issue, and also gives you more flexibility in placing the unit at an optimum position for reception.

Review: I am very disappointed with this product. When I was shopping around for a new adapter the TP-Link Archer T4U caught my eye because it boasted having "Dual band for combined wireless speeds up to 600 Mbps at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz concurrently." Unfortunately for me it hasn't worked as promised. While it does work on Windows 10 without connection breaks it does not deliver full connection speeds. In fact my old Billion BiPAC works much better. Another reason for buying this product is that it is supposed to work with Linux. Buyer beware. If you are running a Linux OS you may experience lots of difficulty. First of all the Linux driver seems to be created specifically for a Linux Kernel 4.4. I had to install and uninstall various Linux distros and versions to discover that. Installing the driver is not for the faint-hearted. I spent hours trying to get that working. Now the adapter works with a Linux Mint 17.3 with a 4.4 kernel. However there are lots of signal dropping and the connection speed averages 84%. My old Bipac works at 100% speed all of the time. I find it really remiss of the manufacturers to market an wireless adapter that doesn't have a driver that will work easily with all versions and variations of Linux. Once again to refer to my old adapters - a Billion BiPAC and a years old Netgear Wireless-N - these two have, for many years worked with many Linux distros and versions of distros and have worked admirably without having to install any driver. Just pop any one of them in the USB and I get an instant connection. Easy peasy. When you pay good money for a product that's exactly how it should be.
