Review: Handheld vacuums are all the rage at the moment. The recent offerings from the likes of Dyson are close to £700 now brand new. Well personally I think that's way too much. This product is much better value and I'm sure works just as well. Simple to use, one button on the back within reach of your thumb gets this going. The top is a touch screen, so if you want to take it off auto and crank up the suction you need to use your other hand. Then you can adjust the power and you really get a massive range in power. The brush has good design which prevents hair becoming tangled, much like other competitors. There is a light on the front which helps show the dirt on the floor. The stand is basic but has a little section for all the attachments and the cable. Now the negative, which are minor, firstly the charging cable plugs directly into the machine. So when you use it this needs to be taken out, but the stand has a little bit for the cable near the top so they did think about this when designing. The second one is the size of the bin. It is small, much like the original Dyson handhelds, but without pets most people will be fine. These negatives are quickly forgotten about when you realise that paid only a fraction of other products which fix these issues! For the price they can be overlooked. For homes without pets or children this is for you. We have a big hoover and have wanted a handheld for the upstairs for some time. Our cars a long hair and you really need an upright with a powerful brush bar to get the fur off the carpet. So as they are not able to get upstairs this is perfect for us, no more lugging a big heavy hoover up and down the stairs.

Review: In my house this replaces a fairly average three-year-old Vax cordless vacuum and is better than the Vax but not a vast improvement in some ways. I think this is quite a good machine for the price, but like others at this price point it doesn't replace a mains-powered vacuum cleaner in my view. My photo shows what the Tower picked up from my carpets in all rooms (small pile on the left) and what my mains-powered Shark picked up (larger pile on the right) straight afterwards over the same carpets the Tower had supposedly just cleaned. The good points of this vacuum cleaner are: • sensible price • auto dust sensing continuously adapts motor power, and it works well • big, clear display with very simple touch controls and battery percentage • battery pops off easily for recharging • several power levels • good battery life • lights on the front for seeing into dark corners • tools and attachments are very easy to put on and take off • included stand makes storage easy and has space for most of the tools - can be attached to wall too • roller easier to remove than any other I've tried • large dust bin easy to empty and filter easy to get at • reasonably lightweight The less good points are: • suction power only average • grit and cat litter fall back out of the bottom when you switch the machine off • the surround for the display digs into my hand when in use and gets uncomfortable quickly • the anti-hair-trap roller does not have a brush, which seems to me to be less efficient at picking up dirt • filter needs to be replaced every three months, but where to buy? • included roller cleaning tool doesn't fit on the stand unlike other tools For me the filter that has to be replaced every three months is a weak point. Other machines have sponge filters you can wash over and over. You can wash this one's filter, but only a few times because it's made of something resembling paper. It can't replace my mains-powered vacuum cleaner because like other low-priced cordless vacuum cleaners i've tried, it doesn't have the power to suck up pieces of grit and cat litter. It's annoying how much falls back out of the bottom when you switch this machine off so you need a dustpan at the ready. Hmm. Overall, a better machine than my Vax, with many thoughtful features at a fair price, especially the auto dust sensing and big display. The suction power for grit and the non lifetime filter are downsides, but this is definitely worth considering for casual use. Scrapes four stars.
