Review: This was a godsend, made nighttime feeds so much easier then the traditional boiling water method. Feed is ready in 2 mins and you can even do it with one hand while your holding the little one. Very easy to use and keep clean. Recomend

Review: I have two older children, aged 10 and 8, so a fair gap between them and my new baby. When we found out we were pregnant this time we visited Toys R Us and were given the sales pitch on this by a member of staff. It sounded brilliant, but we were wary that it was an unnecessary expense, given that it's not absolutely essential, I managed twice already without it and I was planning to breast feed this time, so figured I wouldn;t really have much use for it. But I couldn't let it go and finally convinced the other half to invest in one. I breastfed my daughter for 6 weeks and was happy with that, she's 7 weeks old now and we've been using the machine pretty much exclusively for her feeds for the last week. I do love this machine, it's so simple to use, so easy and convenient, it makes the night time feeds a whole lot less stressful; not having to listen to baby scream for 10 minutes whilst making up and then cooling a bottle etc.. At the moment we're only on 4oz bottles and they take less than a minute to prepare. Larger bottles will of course take longer, but still nothing in comparison to 'old style' preparation! I do have a couple of small issues with the machine, not enough to give me cause to stop using it, but little niggles that prevent me rating it 5*. Firstly, the machine makes a horrible, horrible claxon sound that is just too loud. I don't understand why it needs to be so loud. We originally placed the machine in our bedroom, so that I could make the night feeds without having to go downstairs, but the sound that it makes is just too loud. It wakes my partner and so we couldn't keep it in the same room as anyone sleeping. Another small issue is the light on the machine. The large power button lights up red and flashes bright green during preparation, which is really distracting and annoying and again, a reason the machine can't really be kept in a room with sleeping people. These are, like I said, just small issues that I can live with, but I do think it's fair to mention them. Also, some have said the machine can be inaccurate regarding the amounts of water it dispenses, and the reviewer who has replied saying this is untrue and that they are mistakenly counting the increased volume due to powder, I suppose both could be right, but in my experience the machine DOES occasionally not give the correct amount of water. This is not to the degree of 2 oz extra or missing, and I don't think the difference will cause any problems for baby (mine seems happy) but after reading the reviews I tested the machine myself by running a few water only bottles (so yes, water + powder = increased overall volume, but no, I'm not an idiot, water on it's own gives me the right to leave this review and be confident it's accurate). I found that running a 4oz just water bottle would more often than not come out at around 4.5oz, though, sometimes it hits bang on the oz mark and it can be anywhere inbetween. When I take baby out of the house I take a bottle of boiled water in her bag, along with a sterilised tub of powder that I can just pour in and make up as and when needed, so I do not use the machine at all for this. To make my night time feed prep quicker and easier for me, I also keep tubs of pre measured powder in sterilised tubs beside the machine, along with my little lineup of sterilised bottles. I've had none of the issues that some other reviewers have mentioned with the machine not working, mine seems to operate fine. When we set it up we ran the clean cycle, which took a little while, at first we thought it was broken, as one of the lights took forever to go off! When it was ready we were very pleased with it. The machine has saved me a lot of time, it makes bottles at a temperature that my baby accepts with no issue or arguement, and despite it being noisy and annoying with alarms and flashing lights, I wouldn't be without it now. I would recommend this product, though I would advise you run a few water only bottles yourself to double check that it's giving correct amounts. Despite one reviewer stating that it's not an issue, it IS.
