Review: (long term daily use update !)I have had this enclosure for over a year and still love it. It takes 15mm depth drives so my setup is 2 x4TB drives in a BIG span array. (2x5Tb could make a 10TB mobile monster !!). It is fast, cool & quiet (cooling fan is almost silent). There are 3 power options (1) direct through a single USB3.0 cable - if the port on your host machine provides enough wattage (Works this way on my trusty i7 Thinkpad T430). (2) With the provided 2nd USB cable to power plug - so from 2 USB ports - (Work Dell desktop needs this approach for some reason) OR (3) It comes with a small mains power adapter. I have read of issues with it refusing to come out of standby, but it has behaved perfectly for me. Reassuringly there is a mechanical power switch if you need to reboot. If I am picky the initial setup of the raid options is fiddly, needing the case unscrewing to set dip switches within the case (but that means nobody can accidentally change the raid settings and destroy data). Overall this a well designed, flexible way to get enormous portable storage that fits easily in a laptop bag. As always try to have multiple backups especially if you are using this in harsh portable environments. I have had to reformat a couple of times (corruption from my own careless unplugging of the drive)...which is not a reflection on the unit. Beware that with 6TB+ it takes over a day to restore from a static Hard Drive - so take care and all will be good. A truly great device !.

Review: Where do i start...... Great when its working but in the two weeks i have had it is locked up and messed up the hard drives twice. I have then had to go through the agro of dismantling the case and experimenting with various ways to get the thing to finally work in the raid mode i want. What makes it worse is now yet again it has messed up and i cant get it to respond at all even when following the instructions from the manufacturer. One thing i have noticed is that the cooling fan appears to not move so im wondering if the board is overheating and causing the issues. Even if it is a small fault like thats its pretty crap for £70. I have ended up complaining to amazon. Its very annoying when you download 500gb of steam games onto the drives for them to mess up and be unreadable. It would be even worse if it was important data. Not good i wouldnt recommend this product
