Review: What can I say, Its a SMEG. In my opinion one of the best makes for durability and stile there is on the market. When the wife came home and this along with the SMEG kettle was sitting on the worktop, she was over the moon. I opted for the 4 slice toaster simply because you can cut your bread to whatever size you want and it cooks it evenly on both sides from light to near burnt as some people like it. Be aware though, the 4 slice version is quite large, so make sure you have the room for it. Another tip is don`t set it under any of your kitchen cupboards as you will find after a period of time, the heat will form a brown patch under there especially if you have just had a new kitchen installed. The Chrome outside just reeks of class and there is also a defrost option on it for the frozen bread you had to much of. It is expensive but it is worth every penny as it sets off your kitchen and will be noticed by all your friends as well as being a great product. If your looking at it, then your thinking about it. My advice, Buy it, you will not regret it. 10/10 26/1/2017 After about three months we were sitting eating in the kitchen when we hear a pop and we looked over towards the toaster and we saw a small cloud of smoke and a burning smell coming from the toaster and we turned it off at the wall. The next day I was curious as to what happened and I turned it on at the wall and nothing bad happened, so I put in a slice of toast and it popped up as normal with only one side toasted. I checked and rechecked all the settings and tried again and the same thing happened. Looks like one of the internal heating elements has gone. I looked the guarantee from Smeg and it said that it must not be sent back to the retailer and to goto smegs web address. Yet when you go to the SDA "small domestic appliances" page, it says they dont take returns of SDA`s. Which just leaves you with your third party seller as they got the same from smeg when they tried a return but they gave me a refund. At £130 for a toaster I didnt expect this. Now it leaves me in the position, do I buy another one or leave me buying another brand of toaster and have a smeg kettle. They were a lovely match or did I just get a one off.???? Update Yet Again I decided that I might have got maybe a one off bad version so I ordered another Smeg 2 slice toaster "same style" as I got the refund from the last one. It came in around 4 days and I had it for only 2 weeks when the exact same thing happened again. Not only did it start only tasting on one side but the handle wouldn't stay down. I had to hold it down manually to test if it was only toasting on one side. I just cant believe this can happen on two toasters. I read other reviews on Amazon from other good makes of toasters and if you look at most of the 1 star reviews, this seems to be a common problem in toasters. Again I have to return for a refund. I will maybe use toasting fork on an open fire to get my toast in future. Yet Another Update "And The Hits Just Keep On Coming" This is on the Kettle side this time. Yes you guessed it, The kettle has packed in now. Oh it still boils! but the lid keeps falling off and it far to dangerous to be used so it went to the bin. Thanks Smeg you done yourself proud on this one. Over £130 and just slightly over 2 years. Now thats what I call GREAT VALUE """""""""""NOT""""""""""
