Review: This is amazing. Well worth the money. I use it a lot each week for different meals. I remove the inner pot after cooking and wash in the dishwasher and it still maintains its non stick for cooking.

Review: My Tefal slow cooker stopped working. I’d had it over 10 years and I loved it. Throw everything in the pot in the morning, delicious food when I get home from work. Disappointed to find there is no similar model on the market, but these multi cookers looked interesting. With the promise of ‘the same results as a slow cooker, but in 10 minutes’ I decided to give it a try. I must admit when I ran the cleaning programme recommended before first use I was surprised at how long it took to reach optimum pressure. And the steam release at the end terrified me. Honestly, if you need gloves and long handled tongs just to open the valve why are these not supplied (I grappled with two long wooden spoons). The noise was louder than I expected and I had to open my back door to release the steam cloud from my kitchen. My first attempt at actual cooking was simple - spaghetti meatballs, done 100’s of times in my slow cooker. I placed the ingredients in, but here is where I got confused. The Drew & Cole app had very few recipes so I looked elsewhere online. Most said to add between 1-2 cups of water. The handbook that comes with the machine stresses the importance of never running with too little liquid. It recommends up to between half and three quarters mark. I was so scared over under or over filling that I followed their instructions. This turned out to make a sort of tasteless grey meatball soup in a thin orangey red type water. Inedible. Now it’s fine to see where I went wrong, and to practice and experiment, but I bought this for ease and convenience and have neither the time or the money to waste on experimentation. A more detailed recipe book with more precise liquid levels would have been so helpful. As would some long handled tongs and asbestos gloves. Don’t think pressure cooking is for me.
