Review: More brightness but still considerate High prices for Hue bulbs. I guess I wanted more light in the room. So far none of my 5 years old Hue bulbs broke so at least that. However the budget hole is not small if you need more than one.

Review: I purchased these new 1600 lumens bulbs to replace two 806w hue bulbs that we have in our lounge. I always found that the 806 lumens bulbs to not be bright enough for the winter months, even on full brightness with white light - our lounge just always looked dark. When i discovered that hue had released new 1600 lumen bulbs i ordered them. The bulbs are a little bigger in size than my old bulbs, connection/setup was a breeze in the Philips hue app. So how did they fair against my previous bulbs - to be totally honest they were a big disappointment. They are brighter but not by very much in my personal opinion. The bright white is slightly better, however the colours make no difference to the brightness whatsoever. Having purchased two of these bulbs at as cost of nearly £130 i wouldn't recommend to others that they are just not worth the extra cash outlay when compared to the previous generation bulbs. These new bulbs are marketed to be the equivalent of 100w bulbs, but i struggle to agree with that - the brightness just is not there for me, thus they did not meet my expectations. REVIEW UPDATE! (See review Pictures) I have been looking into why the bulbs are not as bright as i expected them to be, replacing my 800 bulbs with 1600 lumen bulbs in my head would mean twice as bright... i know it may not work like this but that's how my brain works! I removed the bulb to check the model number and to my absolute horror and surprise i saw that the bulb actually had 1200 lumens printed on the reverse!! I grabbed the box and looked again at this, the box states 1600 but in smaller print at the bottom left of the box it states 1521 lumen at 4000k and 1200 lumen at 2700k. Come on Philips hue, talk about making it confusing for your customers... is this bulb, 1600, 1521 or 1200 lumen!!! The bulb, the packaging, the listing all state something different! Your app doesn't allow you to select what kelvin you want... and who understands Kelvin anyway, the majority of us just want a bright white light which we can change to different colours based on our mood! This has really put me off of the whole Philips Hue ecosystem! Expensive bulbs, misleading marketing! How difficult is it just to tell the consumer honest information about the product in order that someone can make an informed choice on if they should purchase or not. Shame on you Philips Hue! I hope that you found my review helpful
