Review: I bought this unit as I wanted seamless 'Viera' link connectivity with my Panasonic TV [if you are interested see my review of TV TX-49DX600B - completely awesome]. That bit works Ok, However, sadly, this unit is fundamentally flawed. Where do I start:- 1/ The Wi-Fi receiver in this unit is crap and it is not my set-up. You get button response delays, freezing and all kinds of bandwidth issues which makes the Internet element of this unit unusable. Fortunately the Panasonic TV can duplicate these features without issue. 2/ Parental Lock - don't get me started. The Parental Lock on my unit is disabled via menus, However, if the broadcaster transmits a "G" to the program you want to record you CANNOT watch it back without entering a PIN. This is doubley annoying as it is different to the PIN you are forced to change as part of the initial set-up !. The manual make no mention of this and it was only by luck the default '0000' worked - which you have to use every time. DO NOT CHANGE IT :-) 3/ HDD recording. You get 4 folders but there is no way to create new folders or move recordings to existing folders. This means everything you record has to just piles up on each other. This is completely unacceptable and if I had not of paid £250 this unit would go in the bin. 4/ Pause of live TV. If you pause live TV there is a massive delay in response. Then, when you fast forward to real time and try to use the GUIDE button it requests "press Ok" to remove this message, then you have to press STOP, then another delay, then you can select. No other unit I have ever encountered is so frustrating. Another BIN option for me. 5/ Netfix: Panasonic have obviously done a corporate deal with them to include a dedicated button on the remote - in exactly the place you don't want it. Great if you subscribe to Netflix - pain in the arse if your don't. In summary, I will live with this unit for the TV compatibility and that's it. If you do not have a Panasonic TV avoid at all costs. 6. Panasonic- you should be ashamed.
