Review: Whilst I bought this in November 2022, Christmas day was the first time I used it to cook a large, rolled turkey crown. I calculated the cooking time at 20 mins per lb (450g) plus 20 min, plus resting time of 20, which came to 2hrs 55min. I should have taken the joint out of the fridge the night before, rather than that morning, as the internal temperature was very low when I put it in the oven, which I would not have realised if not for the MEATER readings. This meant it took an extra 30 minutes to cook, so without the MEATER my joint would have been under-cooked had I taken it out based on my calculations and the rest of the meal would have been cooked far too early. The estimated time to cook was a god send. When I first received it, I set it up to work with Alexa, as my sitting room was just out of the 4m distance. This meant it was ready to go on Christmas day. It was easy to say, 'Alexa open MEATER', then ignore anything else she was wittering on about and ask her 'Alexa what is the internal temperature?' or Alexa what is the ambient temperature?'. One issue I did have was that Alexa would not say what the estimated cooking time was, at any time throughout the cook - I had assumed she would, so this was disappointing. I don't know whether this was a fault with Alexa or the MEATER or user error. One thing that is important to know, is that it will not register the estimated time to cook until the ambient temperature reaches 40 degrees. If you're using foil over the roasting pan this can take quite some time for the temperature to rise high enough to register (well over 30 minutes for my joint). I really like that it is suitable for oven, air fryer and BBQ, although I will have to contact the company to check if I can use it when I boil hams as it is not waterproof. It is easy to clean and because it is charged from a battery, I don't have to worry about it not being charged. The wooden housing it sits in is well made and I like that it has magnets on, so I can store it on my fridge door (not taking up room in an already overcrowded utensils drawer). Overall, I was impressed with this device, as it saved me from the disaster of serving Christmas lunch with an under-cooked turkey. The estimated cooking time meant I could adjust everything else so that all the food was ready at the same time. Whilst the cost is a little high, I would still very much recommend this device. And as Alexa says 'Happy cooking'

Review: I bought this as had 16 coming for Christmas dinner and thought i'd be cutting edge on the technology front. Synced it in with my phone ok, but then being a bloke didn't read any instructions. Shoved it into the gammon joint and put it in the oven, then it lost connection. Might be as it was in our second oven which is also a microwave that cut the signal off, so just reverted to the time on the packaging. Jesus Christ, when i opened the oven up with another 40 minutes to go to baste the bleeding thing, my meater kicked back in with 'Critical' all over it on the app. Now in a quandary, do I take it out as this thing is telling me its like an old mans boot, or cook to the packaging times. Went for the latter and turned out fine fortunately, no axe to carve required...
