Review: Manfrotto “compact action tripod” is designed primarily for compact point & shoot and CSC cameras, and equally for video cameras. The pros are: pistol-grip very ergonomic, light weight, compact folded size, supplied carry bag, good value, very good build quality & stability. But this tripod has one MAJOR con: the Quick-Release plate adopts an unusual circular design – totally different from standard Manfrotto or Arca-Swiss designs, this is very fiddly and slow to use which is totally unacceptable in a tripod branded “action”, which suggests quick and easy set up and shooting in the currently trendy vloggging style. I tried this tripod with my Sony travelzoom – it held this camera satisfactorily, but when I tried it with a smartphone bracket (for mounting a smartphone on a standard tripod – sold separately by a different supplier) the Quick-Release plate could not be tightened due to the small base of the smartphone bracket, for the same reason this tripod was unsuitable to support my digital audio recorder. As I want one tripod to use with all my devices I had no option but to return it.
