Review: I have a mini and midi chopper from this brand and I love them, so when I spotted a compact full-sized food processor on offer I was thrilled. The food processor has a lot of positive points. It’s very smart in appearance, and really easy to use - the jug clips on to the base and the lid clips on to the jug. Much more straightforward than twist locking systems which have to be turned just so or the motor won’t power on. This also has a particularly small footprint - it’s the first food processor I have owned which has space inside to store all of the attachments. The controls are really simple too - just three speed setting buttons. The bowl, lid, spindle, and blade attachments are all dishwasher safe, so this is very easy to clean. However, I have been really disappointed by one aspect of the performance from this food processor. When one of the chopping/ slicing blades is fitted it leaves far too big a space between the blade and the lid, with the result that fruit/vegetables only grate or slice a small amount before they fall through and end up stuck between the lid and the disc, whirling round aimlessly with nothing to put pressure on them. I tried using this to make coleslaw, and ended up with far more of my vegetables on top of the cutting disc than grated in the bowl. The problem, as far as I can see, is that the design for neat storage puts two discs on top of the spindle but in use only one goes on - net result an oversized gap between the disc and the lid. The way to fix this seems as though it would be really simple: just an extra loop of plastic that fits onto the spindle below the cutting/grating disc could boost it sufficiently to end this problem, and would still fit inside the bowl for storage. Shame Kitchenaid didn’t do this!
