Review: I love the penguin. When it was recommended I thought I'd give it a go but really didn't see how it could make a difference. But after a day, I fell in love with it. I suffer from arthritis and carpel tunnel syndrome and I am amazed how much less pain i am in, at the end of a day on the computer. It is also really easy to swap from left to right handed use so I can reduces the stress on my hands still further

Review: First off, just a head's up, this quite lengthy review becomes partly a rant later on, but it's completely justifiable ???????? A truly comfortable and ergonomic mouse. It fits in the hand lovely. The left & right click, and scroll wheel are all horizontal. The scroll wheel's quite big and feels great. The way that the click buttons and scroll wheel are positioned, it means that the mouse can be used by both right and left handed people alike. There's a button where the pinkie rests, which selects the scroll wheel setting for either right or left handed people. A nice little touch is a nice blue glow from the company logo, illuminating the Human spine. The DPI Button is underneath the mouse. If you didn't know already, the DPI simply adjusts the movement speed of the cursor on the screen. If you wanted more control over a mouse, there's a good, small and free program called 'X Mouse Button Control'. A bit more on that later too. The main reason for looking into these sorts of computer mouse is that I read something about Repetitive Strain Injury not long ago and it really made me think why the old school computer mouse isn't banned yet. It went into quite some depth of many people saying that RSI has become intolerably painful for them, due to using a standard mouse on a day to day basis. As with many day to day things, RSI accumulates with time due to the the wrist not being in a neutral "hand shake" position. Where a computer mouse is needed in a workplace, it should be made law that a vertical style should be used. As long as it ain't this one. Again, more on that later on. It works pretty good for the variety of older games which I often play, such Left 4 Dead (works ok for the most part), BioShock (same), GTA IV, the Trine games, and Alien Swarm Reactive Drop on steam. It's very comfortable. But, and it's one HUGE but - that sounded funnier in my head ???????? - if you play mostly FPS (First Person Shooters), look elsewhere. That segways into the main reason why I took off THREE STARS! Believe me, it is called for... Accuracy is indeed awful when it comes to very fine, slow movements, regardless of the DPI setting used. This became quickly and prominently noticeable in the aforementioned Left 4 Dead and BioShock, which are the FPS genre. It was a bloody nightmare to aim accurately with this thing. The sensitivity and 'dead zone' for initial movement is WAY off. I'll try to explain, you know when you stop moving the mouse, then you start to move it really slowly again, exactly like the movements necessary to aim down sight or a scope to shoot in games? It's just awful. It's like it doesn't register minute movements. No matter what setting you set the DPI to, nothing improved it. I even tried a free program called X Mouse Button Control to adjust it, but to no avail. One other thing which emphasises how bad the sensitivity is, you know while trying to edit even the most basic of PDF documents, where I needed to simply draw a diagonal line through a little box. I'd move the mouse very slightly and slowly, but the cursor wasn't moving AT ALL. No word of a lie, sometimes you can even move the mouse very slowly, around an inch in any direction, and it doesn't even detect it. I've bought a couple of optical mice for around £5 in the past which were better for sensitivity than this. So for around £70 it's shockingly bad for any programs where you need good sensitivity for small movements. It's unacceptable for a mouse in this price range. It got to the point where it was full on aggravating, and had to resort to using an old mouse just to edit those documents mentioned previously. But the thing is, if you have to work on documents like those frequently, on a day to day basis, it would be frustrating for you, to say the least. Although, despite the fairly steep price, for general everyday use such as using browsing the internet, and some basic games, it's a winner because of the comfort. Hopefully more companies will get on board with these anatomically correct mouse for peoples' well being. They just need to iron out the kinks with those minor but VERY annoying problems. I've taken off one more star recently, because whenever Windows boots up, the mouse doesn't work. The blue LED of the logo is on, but there's no cursor present, and no amount of movement makes it work. So you have to disconnect and reconnect the mouse. I have tried various USB ports to see if remedied the issue, but nope, still happens. Bloody annoying. If the refund date wasn't up, this mouse would have been going back. Wonderful design, plagued by many stupid little faults, which really shouldn't be present with a mouse around this price point. Rant / review over ???? Hope this helps, take care.
