Review: After struggling to replace an aged ceiling we struggled to get a fan that was as quiet as advertised, then we came across the DUUX Whisper. This fan ticks every box, superb build quality, looks great, ease of use and above all on night mode you struggle to hear it working. Some buyers have commented on there being no batteries in the remote control but ours came with a battery & within 5 minutes the fan was assembled and up and running. Cannot praise this fan enough.

Review: Quite disapointed with this fan. Personally I believe that there is other fans at this price point that can do a better job. My overall rating for this fan is 2.5 stars. Below you can find the pros and cons. From the positive notes, the fan has a very long cable which is small and sleek. The power brick is a 12V power brick, attached directly to the socket. The power brick is a wide flat power brick - be mindful of this if you are planning to plug in your fan behind furniture, since you might not have enough clearance. The cable plugs in underneath the base of the fan and is then routed inside the pipes. The fan was packaged very well and each bag of items was labelled by numbers. This also helped speed up the process of assembly. The fan has fairly good features with horizontal and vertical oscilation, and is capable of pointing directly at the ceiling. The assembly of the fan is fairly simple and easy. The fan is adequately quiet with 20.4dB(relative) at setting 1; 20.7dB(r) at setting 2; 28.2dB(r) at setting 10; 35.2dB(r) at setting 20; 49.7dB(r) at max setting 26. This was tested 1m and 5mm away from the fan blades, with a 60 degree angle. This is relatively quiet compared to other fans and would definetely consider as "whisper" quietness on the decibel scale. The fan is average at power consumption with 2.9W at setting 1; 3.0W at setting 2; 5.2W at setting 10; 12.0W at setting 20; 24.1W at setting 26. The fan is good at power efficiency at fan speed settings below 14. The fan is quite poor at power efficiency at higher fan speeds, but still within average. The remote control feels quite good in the hand and contains all the settings of the fan. It has an ergonomic feel and is made fully of plastic and rubber materials. The remote control uses an IR blaster which is quite an aged technology, and requires you to point the remote control within aproximately 90 degree proximity of the fan (or any reflective surface like a wall, opposite the fan). Despite this, it works fairly well. One thing the remote control doesn't have is a screen or any indication at what settings are enabled - therefore you have to look at the fan controller or your app to see what settings are selected. The fan doesn't heat up very much, therefore the motor is good quality. However, I believe the controller board to the right of the controller screen on the base heats up quite a bit and feels warm to the touch. From the more negative side, I don't believe the build quality to be good enough at this price point. Majority of the fan is made of plastic, and my specific model came with scratches and dents in the plastic. My model also has a rough spot on the glass ontop of the LCD screen. The LCD screen also has seems and shows light through the side of it when looking at an angle. I feel like the design and quality control is not up to standard for a product at this price point. The fan's height is designed more for a smaller kid rather than an adult. I am an average adult with 170cm (5'7") height, and this fan was under my waist line. To combat this, you would be forced to put the fan on a piece of furniture or purchase additional pipe extensions for an already overpriced product. The fan moves adequate air. I do not have any tools to scientifically measure the air flow. However, I have seen fans with more power. If you are looking for power - this is not the correct fan for you. The fan also has a beeping noise every time you enable/disable it or change any of it's settings. I understand that some people may want this functionality - but I believe the user should at least have a choice to disable it. Since other fan manufacturers do have settings for it. The fan claims to be a smart fan only operating on the 2.4GHz band. So I put this to the test. I connected it to my WiFi and tested it out. However, I quickly found out that you can only connect the fan to the Duux application. The Duux application is decent and has all the controls you would require. However, if you are like me and prefer to have all of your devices in one place, rather than over 30 apps - you probably use a smart home controller. I use Google Home, therefore, I tested by adding it to my smart network. You cannot directly add the fan in Google Home, however, you can add it by connecting the Duux app with Google Home. Upon connecting, you will only have the "On/Off" functionality as shown in the 4th picture. This is very poor at this price point, and I think that I will be returning the fan primarily due to the lack of settings in Google Home. The fan has no controls and I really do not want to have 30 apps installed for every smart device in my home just to be able to control it. If you found this review helpful - rate it, so that more people can be informed of what they are purchasing. As for the rating... Unless Duux developers add majority of the functionality to Google Home - such as at minimum speed settings, I would maybe consider giving it 3.5 stars. If they improve the rigid structure of the design and improve quality control, I would maybe even put that rating at 4 stars. However, at the current state of things I would only be able to rate it at about 2.5 stars compared to the other fans on the market.
