Review: I bought this for specialist wildlife photography: I photograph wild bees. I need a compact lightweight camera for this work, and a mirrorless Micro-Four-Thirds camera offers substantial advantages in the performance of much, much smaller and lighter lenses than those required for an SLR. The Panasonic Lumix GX9 offers the best balance of size and performance on the market, despite it's age, and an excellent selection of lenses is available - including 'Ultra Macro' lenses for specialist photographers. You'll have a lot of fun with this camera, and the smaller size and weight means you'll take it out far more often than a full-size SLR. I recommend the Olympus M. Zuiko 60 mm f/2.8 MSC ED Macro Digital Lens as a good general-purpose zoom-to-macro lens for this camera: however, I use a more specialist 'Ultra Macro' manual-focus lens for wildlife fieldwork.

Review: Okay, I should first say that this camera is a powerhouse, but I return it after one week. The quality of the picture of this little camera was outstanding, I specifically loved the natural look of the lights and shadows. Great image stabilization and the videos were exceptional. The price wasn't bad at all, perfect size as well. Coming from a Canon DSLR I wasn't fun of the viewfinder on the left side instead of the center, but with some time it could be easy to get used to it. The deal breaker for me was actually the viewfinder, but for the extremely bad quality of the image it provided. Looking through it was a nightmare for me, even worse with the sunlight. It was like the borders were giving a blurry, distorted image and was only clear in the center. As I shoot using mainly the viewfinder instead of the screen, that was a big no for me. Such a shame, since the fact that I could move the viewfinder was amazing!
