Review: Love this printer, I’ve printed 100 photos and at least 200 normal pages with colour. Most printers would use a fortune in ink to do what I’ve done. I know it’s the best most affordable printer to run that I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot. Last one was a canon and it cost a fortune to run. Well done Canon for upgrading to something worth buying and it is that good, I actually can’t stop telling people. So easy to refill too, you just tip a bottle of ink into a reservoir. Couldn’t be easier for a Grannie to use :)

Review: Bought this primarily as a small office printer but chose it due to its ink wells vs the usual cartridges ( hoping they will last longer) and it had good reviews for printing photos which is what my wife wanted. I have an old HP Laserjet which I have had for maybe 10 plus years that was still working adequately and now I have both I think I prefer that old one vs the new Canon and have kept them both. Pluses of the Canon - its smaller and more compact than the HP. It’s print quality is also marginally better , as you’d expect with 10 years plus advancement in technology, and the fact I was using cheap print cartridges in the HP. Not tried photos yet. Negatives - extremely frustrating to set up. Instructions very poor. It took me a while to work out you need to download an app to use some of the functions, such as scan and you can’t scan to email direct from the menu panel. - the paper feed hangs out the back which I don’t like. It means you have to have it away from the wall and eliminates most of the positives of it being a more compact machine. My old HP has a separate tray built in under the unit which makes it far tidier in the home office. - it is forever losing wireless connection , particularly when scanning to iPad or iPhone . Nothing wrong with my network , everything else , in the same location, works fine. It’s the canon printer software. I need to keep switching things off then on again , including the router , to reboot it. Immensely frustrating. - to try and solve the wireless problem I went and bought an extra adaptor for my powerline adaptor network. I never even checked that the Canon had a LAN port first - only discovered it had when I tried to connect it. Unbelievable to not have a LAN port on a piece of office equipment! So in summary, an underwhelming purchase. I’m astonished how little office printing has moved on in the 10 years since I last bought some hardware. I’ve unpacked it and put all the inkwells etc in , and as it does do the basics as it says on the tin , it’s seems wrong to send it back. So I’ll keep with it. But would not buy again and would not recommend.
