Review: I bought this hedge trimmer to replace an old Qualcast which had served me for 25 years and finally expired gracefully. I have a huge number of Bosch appliances and tools and usually seek items from Bosch. This device is a disappointment for three reasons: 1. The cable connection is ridiculous. There is a short cable from the trimmer which ends in a sealed cable connector. The main cable is then from another sealed connector to the mains plug. You have to loop the cable through a plastic hook to stop the connectors separating. The problem arises when one inevitably cuts the cable. On my last machine is was simply a matter of reconnecting the cable to a terminal block in the machine - took about ten minutes and was safe. As far as I can see, with this machine you would have to purchase a complete main cable. 2. Unlike my previous machine this one has two moving blades, rather than one. This means that the aperture in which the twig will be cut is open for a much shorter time. The effect is that, while twigs of less than about 3mm are cut fine, larger ones are often only partially cut, finishing torn. Also the trimmer is very poor at cutting twigs which lay in the direction of travel of the cutter. 3. The trimmer has an end stop too prevent the blades getting too close to a wall. This is about 50mm long. My old trimer did not need this and I could cut foliage very near to a wall, something I cannot do now. I note that Qualcast machine are now engineered by Bosch. They should have taken a good look at the old products before replacing them. Verdict - poor and irritating design.
