Review: I had a 3D Asus 144hz monitor that has hdmi, vga and dvi input, amazing monitor but since upgrading to RTX gpu... you know what? It doesn't support dvi! Just hdmi and display port! Whilst I appreciate that technology moves forward, dvi in my opinion is still a superb connection, especially for those with hardware suited more for work than gaming so I will be keeping my beloved asus but have had to upgrade to this one but really is it any different? YES! It is a slightly smaller screen to my old one (24.5 vs my 27) but I read reviews about pixel sizes being spaced bigger in displays over 27, and so i recommend a 24.5 over a 27 just to give you that real finer detail which you will notice, and which will help in 1080p and you are trying to get games to look as sharp as possible. this monitor has a load of settings such as software sharpening, increasing black levels etc, even putting a crosshair on the screen, but this would be more for gamers into fps games, i am not interested in that. The bezel is nice around the screen, it looks like a real nice flat panel without bezels almost, the quality of the monitor is heavy and rugged which I like. It does not feel cheap. It is plastic but it is not cheap. There are metal features such as the swivel bracket and the base is fitted to a metal holder inside with an easy to turn screw with a little handle on it and the screw has a mechanism where it does not come out of the base, so if you decide to mount this monitor - you wont need to be worried of losing the screw. Nice touch there. the screen itself is well backlit, as in that it doesnt have slightly lighter areas in the corners or anything like that, if you have a black screen it looks exactly like it should similar to if the screen is off. However it will not be truly black as the panel is a matt texture which helps prevent reflections of light on it, but the downside of this always is that this can give it a less black look over all. The brightness and colour are incredible vibrant, it is silky smooth in 144hz as well, i havent set it to 165 hz yet!! The built in sound on it isnt bad, of course you would want your own speakers for better sound, but the sound is decent, you can hear the right tones and it doesn't sound cheap or high pitched. Looking at the screen face on, wow, the colours really pop and they all are correct, as in clouds have detail and not just plain white and everything just blends as it should. but turning the screen away from you, the viewing angle, this makes the colours look more washed out and the brightness less so, so whilst a phone ips screen (may i add that these screens also have glass, not matt texture) looks better when tilted away from you - the matt texture does not do the screen any favours when tilted away. comparable to a regular lcd monitor. In fact, i found the viewing angle quality to be less than my previous asus monitor because of how good this monitor looks head on - the difference is more jarring when tilted. So whilst the face on image is the best, the tilted image then can be very disappointing, but I would have been less let down by it had i not had high hopes about what IPS means! IPS means it has nice bold colours, tighter pixels, but the matt screen makes it just like a regular screen when viewed at an angle. This monitor is powered by a little power block, not just your standard kettle lead so be aware of this. The way it is set up though is that the power block is closer to the socket and not the monitor which keeps cable management nice on your desk, there is a hole in the neck of the stand to feed cables through and a compartment that unclips to get the larger connections through. OSD it is controlled with a joystick on the back, that makes actual sense!! My main gripe about my old asus monitor was that the controls made no sense, left and right were spaced too far apart, up and down and select and back were all spread between 5 different keys, you would have to press menu, then press down several times, then into system settings, then down to volume, then press enter, then press up or down to increase or decrease volume. Which is ok on paper, but when the room is dark and the monitor is shining away - the function of these keys are hard to see - the power button is exactly the same and mixed in with the buttons, so you can get lost navigating the menu. The menu on this though is very VERY simple to use, has nice shortcuts for the gamer stuff, also for different screen modes like cinema, scenery etc. But more importantly it is just a case of moving this little joystick and pressing it in to confirm your selection. Volume is just a few clicks for example. I am glad they had thought this through this time, i like to be looking directly at the screen when messing with menus, not having to put my head around the side or the back to see the adjustments to the picture. The stand swivels and the back of the stand tilts up and down nice and sturdy, it also then will turn the screen to portrait mode, as a gamer - this means cocktail cabinet games or pinball games will be easy to play with a turn of the screen, or if you are making a portrait document or something. I always liked this feature and now I finally have it. Its is good as well if you are playing an emulator like bluestacks which emulate android and turning the screen this way is great for this. I don't know much else about monitors to review it, i recommend checking out some youtubers for more exact details but i hope this is an interesting read for you. I wanted to share my experience of the quality of it and also that getting it on amazon warehouse saved me money and i couldnt see ANY of the cosmetic damage they mentioned, maybe tiny tiny tiny specs! But no dead pixels or pressure marks on the screen, and the other screen i was looking at was a viewsonic one that was the same price as this one was in amazon warehouse so i gambled on this and got a far better built and featured monitor. very happy

Review: This is a nice, cost-effective IPS monitor but I wouldn't recommend this to be used as a single or main monitor. I had brought this because it offered a 1080p resolution with an IPS, it looked great at portrait position and at 120hz for the price? Not bad at all. However, I did not purchase this for gaming as I currently use my XB27 Acer predator as the main monitor which I have. I use it for gaming and my professional work. I needed an external monitor which I can use in a portrait position for my investigative professional work as I use lots of applications. One thing which you should consider before buying this monitor is that any fingerprints on the screen are almost impossible to wipe out. As long as you are okay with that then you should be fine. The portrait angle looks great, I use plenty of applications for work and I needed something like this which I can use as an external monitor. A monitor which I just smash and dash around. If you are a gamer then I would strongly recommend going for something better which may be a little more expensive.
