Review: I upgraded from the Back-Ups BX1400UI because I wanted a unit with a visual display, true sinewave output and user replaceable battery. A feature I also like on this BR1200SI is that you can silence the alarm because I found it annoying when having the beeping sounds while the unit is operating on battery. I have an Apple M1 Mac mini and a Benq EW3280U monitor attached to the unit. I have not tested how long I can run this load for before the battery drains but based on the time count down when I remove the mains input, I should get about an hour. I don't think I'll ever need to run on battery for anywhere near that long. It's just nice to know that if I'm doing a firmware update on my Mac, I don't have to worry if the mains trips for some reason. It's also nice to know that I'm getting a surge free input to my Mac and monitor. The unit does not generate any heat which is quite amazing. My previous unit did give off a slight bit of heat during normal operation from the top vents. This unit is extremely quiet. When the mains power fails, it does not make any sound whatsoever when switching over and running from battery. I have shown two attached pictures. When mains it being fed to the unit, it shows the mains voltage and when on battery, your up time remaining. When the unit switches back to mains, you hear a slight clicking sound for a brief moment and then it's dead quiet again. I have the control cable connected to my Mac. Apple uses native software for the UPS management which is not as great as the Windows software that APC supplies for Windows. I wish APC would create software for Mac as well because the native Mac management software is really poor and even when I set it up to shut down my Mac after a few minutes during a power failure, it just pops up a message saying I'm running on battery and need to shut down. I don't find this a big deal as I am always by my Mac and would be able to shut it down manually if there was a power failure. The front display can be set to be on constantly or blank until you press the menu button. I have set mine to be on all the time because I like to see the status of the UPS. Anyway, I really like this unit. It is more than double the price of the BX1400UI but is certainly worth it. It's also more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
