Review: We decided to replace our ancient analogue radio alarm chiefly because I was fed up with having to reset everything manually whenever there was a power cut or surge (a fairly common event recently due to house renovations). Our chief requirement was that the replacement should be simple and reliable but unfortunately this Roberts Ortus2 has failed on both counts so far. It looks good and the DAB sound is fairly crisp - certainly better than our old machine. But there are many less positive features. First, it was very fiddly to set up and doesn't always seem to correspond with the instructions. In particular, if you can actually manage to get it in settings mode it seems to get stuck and you cannot get out of it again. I also can't seem to bring up all the menu options shown in the booklet. Worse still, having struggled for over half an hour to master the basic settings and alarms (to be fair the alarms are fairly easy once you get the hang of it) we had a short power cut a couple of days later and the machine failed to reset itself to the correct time, rendering the alarms useless. I was going to return it but we've decided to wrestle with the settings yet again and give it one last chance. But all in all, I'm very disappointed so far and think this clock radio is massively over priced for what you get. Oh, and I should also mention that the mains cable is annoyingly short.
