Review: Great quality kettle, we have had one previously that lasted numerous years but once it went we replaced it with a cheaper brand which started leaking within a few months. This might be expensive for a kettle but you get what you pay for. It looks stylish, it’s easy to clean and would highly recommend it. We initially ordered the grey version because it was a bit cheaper but I personally didn’t like the grey plastic, I felt it made it look cheaper so ordered the black instead. In my opinion it looked nicer against the chrome and matched our toaster which is the same brand.

Review: That the ‘Dualit Architects’ kettle has a near eighty percent 'five star' rating is bewildering. I purchased this because of the perceived quality of the brand and that it is customisable. That 'Panels' can be purchased separately, completely changing the colourway is unique and also heavily advertised as this kettles 'distinctive selling point' by this famous British brand. Yet the two most stand out colours 'Copper and Apple Candy Red' are no longer available on the Dualit site or anywhere else ( as of August ’21 ). Their customer services replied with "don't know, don't care" ( Pandemics and skewed container ships from China are my hunch ) Had the kettle for two days now, good amount of time to gauge how it performs compared to the ninety-five pound RRP. This is where I don't understand the 'love’. Firstly the surface is much more than a finger magnet, it is an 'everything' and the universe magnet. Have not gone out of my way to 'mess it up’, yet it looks like I've had it five years already. This will need constant cleaning, or a 'consciously-unconscious' constant ignoring of its surface. Though worst of all, is the crazy amount of 'boiling plastic' this kettles design incorporates. That the designer/s and company execs looked over this kettle, saw the amount of internal plastic and thought to themselves... "who gives a toss" …tells you all you need to know about Dualit. The height of the kettle ( internal volume ) is approx 21cm, yet the plastic limescale filter and 'maximum fill' plastic indicators, start at 9cm ( Three and half inches ) So the maximum fill is under 9cm? A dribble in the bottom, per boil? I doubt most of those five star reviewers are only filling it up to 9cm? The noise is high, but is a steady ascent, so the maximum loudness volume is quite short ...at the end of the boil. I'm also not sure the water is actually that hot? It turns off immediately and 'hot drinks' have a film on the surface... as if it wasn't quite hot enough, that it didn't quite get to boiling point? The unusual spout seems novel, but the steam escaping shoots out at a ninety degree lateral angle. Rather than the normal kettle standard of 'straight upwards' This also means that if only filling to the 9cm maximum fill, you've to turn the kettle literally on its side and the contents pour directly downwards. Very unnatural from a design and usability standpoint. There’s also no way of telling how much water is left in the kettle. The outside ‘fill’ indicator is virtually impossible to see… unless it’s switched on. Then it ‘sort of’ lights up but is still mostly hidden from view, stuck behind the handle. This is another essential design point, completely missed or overlooked by the designer/s.The more recent ( and more expensive ) version of this kettle from Dualit ( The Classic Kettle - £149RRP ) has the gauge front and centre. Another point is that the metallic surface also gets very hot to the touch. The people that made this aren't fools, they must've had many design options and decisions to make. But with the finished product, I just feel they made all of the various choices badly. With good design, aesthetics aren't everything ...yet this kettles design is only concerned with the trivialities of aesthetics.
