Review: These are good cameras, but the reason in particular I bought it is I already have a TZ70 (and had a TZ60 before that). This particular model has been in production for years, which means : 1 - If you already have pone you do not have to learn a load of new stuff about using it. 2 - One would have thought any glitches would have been sorted out ! So, buying another was a no brainer.

Review: I came up with a couple of rules for cameras. 1) The best camera is the one you have with you. 2) You only need a camera that can take pictures slightly better than you can. 3) Don't pay THAT much for it you idiot, you're only going to lose it. My last camera was a Fuji FinePix, which did a great job of taking pictures a bit better than I could, but was too big to pocket - so most of my pictures came from my phone. It just wasn't "the camera I had with me". So upgrading, I decided I wanted something pocketable. This camera does a great job of that. It wedges nicely into my pocket and telescopes itself out moderately quickly to take really good zoom photography. It's not instant and I wouldn't want it to be; since the lens protrudes every time it's switched on, I occasionally get clicks of protestation from the servos because I've not taken the front of the case off fast enough. It's taken it so far with no apparent damage but it's a bit unnerving. Connectivity is pretty good; although the proprietary "Image" app is a bit fiddly and tends to crash, I was amazed to find that the camera can connect to wi-fi and just upload images to a SAMBA share on your home pc. That plus just being able, when all else fails, to simply eject the SD card and slot that into a laptop means there's no walled garden at all - and the camera's pretty future proof. ...Apart from one thing. The one thing I hate about the camera. Hate. I now own about four charge cables for it because every time I go on holiday, I forget or lose the PROPRIETARY connector necessary to charge it. And they're not cheap, it's cost me about six quid each time. They look just like a micro USB or micro HDMI cable unless you're paying attention, but it ABSOLUTELY won't take a micro USB lead; and it mystifies me why not given that the other end of the lead is a perfectly standard USB-A.
