Review: I have owned, and still own many headphones and IEMs. Everything from the original UE Triplefi’s / Superfi’s, Shure 846, IE300s, Audeze LCD XC, LCD X, Senn 560s, Hifiman Sundara etc, so over the years, I have auditioned many headphones and almost as many DAC/AMP combos. Since my Audeze LCDXC, I always wanted a closed back phone again, mainly as I just prefer the sound of a closed back. I also don’t like EQ and with my 2020 LCDX it needs EQ, just not a fun listen without it. Reading up on the Denon 7200 (and it’s siblings the 5200 & 9200) it “read” like it had a fun signature and it was closed back. With an Amazon Black Friday deal, a set was mine! I could not be more happy, signature sound is engaging, fun, solid bass, crisp mids and highs. I swapped to a 4.4mm balanced connection which seemed to free up the mid to upper treble further improving clarity. The jury has always been out for me on “burn in”. However, there is a mechanical element here in the driver and it’s supporting surround, so I “suppose” what I am hearing after 50+ hours is real, and that is, it just keeps improving! This being said, it could also be “brain” burn in. In either case enjoyment is increasing, so who cares ????. I absolutely recommend these headphones.

Review: Found it hard to find a review on these that did criticise. They are very nice lush sounding headphone which captures nuance and details in music which many won't highlight. However for me their balance wasn't open enough and for want of a better word sound dull and too rolled off in the high treble. It's not an open window into the music, and for me this takes away from any sort of emersion or realism that can be found in recordings, such a shame as their micro detail in the mids and bass was excellent.
