Review: After having bought a Sage Barista Express coffee machine then sold it second hand a few months later as I had stopped using it, I wanted to find a more convenient alternative. I'm sure that many people will point out that you can't compare a Nespresso machine to pulling a shot of espresso using the right equipment from recently-roasted, freshly-ground beans. But for me, I'm happy I made the swap. I'm now drinking coffee when I'm at home again everyday. What convinced me about Nespresso and also the Vertuo Plus model in particular is that my mum had gotten one and I had the chance to try hers. I was happy with the coffee, but I think the selling point is the experience using the machine. It's so easy to fill up the water tank, load the pod and click the button. I first use the Aeroccino to warm and froth the milk, though, which is also easy to do, the only annoying thing with that is that it doesn't go in the dishwasher. Then once the coffee is made, you walk away and it turns itself off automatically. I think it's actually easier and quicker than brewing a mug of tea from a tea bag and a kettle. I really like that there's a selection of roasts/taste profiles of Vertuo pods. My partner and I have different preferences of drink size and taste profile and so we can buy pods for each of us rather than compromising on the same coffee. It does seem a bit expensive, and there could be a bit more choice, but I'm happy overall. They're probably a bit wasteful as any single-use item is, even though you can recycle them back to Nespresso.
